Ox Brook Ministries

We are involved in a regular, weekly Home Bible Study. It is a wonderful time to get involved with a few other people to study the Bible in a casual, fun atmosphere. We encourage everyone to be involved in some sort of small-group Bible Study.

We believe that a regular verse-by-verse study of each book of the Bible is the best way to immerse ourselves in God's Word. It needs to be read and studied "c-2-c", that is, "cover-to-cover." We need to involve ourselves with the "whole counsel of God." (Acts 20:27)

Here you will find all of our Home Bible Study notes that you may freely download for your own edification. The notes are in an outline format with virtually no narrative. Each file is in the industry standard .PDF format.

All material is copyright © Jeff Blake, Ox Brook Ministries, and is intended for the edification of the Body of Christ, and especially for your own personal daily Bible study. These materials may be used without cost for personal, non-commercial use. You are encouraged to freely pass on these materials to others for their edification provided you do not charge for them. You may distribute the printed version or electronic version, whichever is more beneficial.

What is most valuable to us are your prayers (1 Thessalonians 5:25; 2 Thessalonians 3:1; Hebrews 13:18).

"pray for us that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified"
-- 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NKJV)

When were the gifts of the Holy Spirit first introduced?
(The answer may suprise you!)
IntroductionGiftsHolySpirit.pdf (33.3 KB)
The Lesson:
Although you're willing to offer to the Lord or do work for Him,
if you don't have the talent or ability, He's not calling you.
Therefore, your offering would not be acceptable to Him.

Is it possible to reject God enough that He will leave
that person, that church, or that nation alone?
Is it ever possible to "cross a line" such that
they've reached a "point of no return?"
The answer from Scripture is an emphatic "Yes!"
CrossingLine.pdf (31.9 KB)
Haunting Question:
Has America crossed that line yet?!

Our Home Bible Study Charter:

  1. To be available to those within our primary "spheres of influence"
    • offering ourselves to anyone who needs or wants to continue in the Word during the week
    • open-ended commitment; no turning back: Luke 9:62
  2. Independent of any particular church or fellowship
    • new wine in new wineskins
    • not new wine in old wineskins
    • (Matthew 9:17; Mark 2:22; Luke 5:37-38)
  3. Quantity and longevity are not measures of success, or of the Lord's leading
    • He will bring those He wants, and for as long as He wants
  4. Emphasis on teaching instead of preaching: 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16
    • "the whole counsel of God": Acts 20:20, 27
  5. Hebrews 10:23-25
    • continue to hold firmly to the hope
    • continue to stimulate one another to love and good works
    • continue to meet together
  6. Praying for each other
    • Romans 1:8-9
    • 1 Corinthians 1:4
    • Ephesians 1:15-16
    • Philippians 1:3-4
    • Colossians 1:3-4, 9
    • 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3; 2:13; 5:25
    • Philemon 1:4-7
    • Hebrews 13:18
    • James 5:16

Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart
Jeremiah 15:16 (NKJV)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)

The entrance of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.
Psalm 119:130 (NKJV)
